Hungary Retail Sales Decrease In April

Retail sales in Hungary fell more than expected in April, a report from the Hungarian Central Statistical Office revealed Monday.

Retail sales fell 2.7 percent year-on-year in April in terms of volume. This follows a 0.9 percent rise in sales in March.

The decline was led by a fall in the sales of food, drinks and tobacco stores, petrol stations as well as in those of furniture and electrical goods shops.

Sales at petrol stations continued to decrease as a result of an ongoing rise in fuel prices. Fuel sales at petrol stations declined 3.2 percent annually.
